Announcing GB70 special event station locations for the Jubilee weekend

Special event callsigns GB70x will be on the air from Thursday, 2 June to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022, as part of the GB70 special event station project.

Over the Jubilee weekend (2-5 June), clubs in several locations around the British Isles will operate special callsigns. Some will be accessible to the public over the course of the Jubilee weekend.

In England, Burnham Beeches Radio Club (BBRC) and Cray Valley Radio Society (CVRS) are activating GB70E from Windsor Home Park – in direct line of sight from Her Majesty’s Home, Windsor Castle.

From Scotland, a team from Kilmarnock & Loudoun Amateur Radio Club (KLARC) will operate GB70M from the stunning location of Craufurdland Castle (Saturday, 4 June only).

GB70I will be on the air from Ballymoney Showground in Northern Ireland (Friday 3 and Saturday 4 June), run by Bushvalley Amateur Radio Club.

And representing the Crown Dependencies, GB70U will operate from Guernsey, based at the Beau Sejour Leisure Centre in St Peter Port (Friday 3 and Saturday 4 June). The club running this station will be Guernsey Amateur Radio Society.

GB70 special event station teams from Wales (GB70W), Jersey (GB70J) and the Isle of Man (GB70D) will also operate during the weekend, but their locations won’t be accessible to the public.

After the Jubilee weekend (from 7 June), the GB70 callsigns will be on the air for parts of the month, activated by various RSGB affiliated clubs. More information can be found on the RSGB website and the relevant pages for the respective callsigns.


  1. Too much of a pileup for me !!!!(VX9CYR) to latch onto GB70E…..Copy was 58 with QSB,running 90 watts with a Kenwood 570D and an off center fed dipole antenna. Hopefully better luck next time !!! 73’s Joseph A. Cyr.

  2. Was very pleased to work GB70E on 20m,using a Kenwood TS50D,100W into G5RV antenna.
