GB70E station planning enters critical phase

The station team for GB70E in Windsor are excited to be entering the final stages for the planning of their station.

Planning a Special Event Station for the Platinum Jubilee in a public location as the Home Park is no mean feat. Station design, technology, logistics, logistics, permissions, security… The list goes on.

Fortunately, our team includes some of the superb operators and planners that were involved in the GB50 special event station (which operated from Windsor Castle 20 years ago).

Building on this experience, and bringing in new innovations, the team made up of Burnham Beeches Radio Club and Cray Valley Radio Society have got their hands full at the moment: Radio equipment, station layout, publicity, operating team and safety & security all have to be carefully planned and considered.

In the coming weeks over the months of April and May, the teams will be testing gear, logging software, finalising communications efforts and organising logistics. If you see people dashing across Windsor Home Park with a set of radio gear and antennae, chances are it’s some of our team making sure everything is just right on the day!
